NSWC Crane Aims to Increase Small Business Contracts

The Naval Surface Warfare Center (NSWC) Crane Division recently sponsored the 19th Annual Buy Indiana Expo in historic French Lick, Indiana.  The “Buy Indiana” initiative began in 1996, designed with a singular goal in mind, of increasing NSWC Crane’s spending in the State of Indiana. The warfare center is one of Indiana’s largest employers, and procured over $900 million in parts and services last fiscal year.

Troika’s Indiana team, spearheaded by Matt Edwards and Jamie Medlock, was excited to support NSWC Crane in this capacity.   Troika is committed to advancing Crane’s efforts to support our warfighters, as well as supporting community and economic development initiatives in the Southern Indiana region.

“Buy Indiana never disappoints.  I was particularly impressed with our unique opportunity to discuss Automated Armory as well as share details on our Asset, Inventory and Data Management Solutions,” said Edwards, partner at Troika and board member of the Bedford Chamber of Commerce.

Troika’s Strategic Communications Director, Jamie Medlock, is the former President of the Bedford Area Chamber of Commerce.  In her role at the Chamber, Medlock served as the host for the Buy Indiana.  This was her first year participating from the small business side, and she relished the opportunity to reconnect with former acquaintances and regional stakeholders to further support Crane’s mission and discuss Troika’s cutting-edge capabilities.

“There is nothing more energizing than spending the day in beautiful Southern Indiana, and discussing ways to support our warfighters,” said Medlock.  “Indiana is fortunate in that local, regional and state stakeholders understand the value and economic impact that Crane provides,” Medlock said.

“Our high-speed solutions and emerging technologies are a great fit for this region,” she said. “Troika’s Automated Armory is proving to be immensely popular and highly valuable throughout the Crane area and other parts of the country,” said Medlock.

NSWC Crane Commanding Officer CAPT Jeffrey Elder provided remarks about Crane’s strategic national defense initiatives.  Additionally, CAPT Elder also recognized Small Business Deputy Reggie Joslin and congratulated him on his upcoming retirement.  Joslin is the founder of the Buy Indiana Expo, and has served as a tremendous asset for small businesses across the Hoosier state.

“Reggie is a dear friend and a great partner,” said Medlock.  “His unwavering commitment to Hoosiers, both personally and professionally, will positively impact people and businesses for generations to come.  It was a pleasure to see Reggie honored in this capacity, and Troika wishes him the very best in his retirement,” said Medlock.

In addition to being one of Indiana’s largest employers, NSWC Crane also serves as one of the largest navy installations in the world.  Troika team members had an opportunity to chat with Crane procurement employees, elected officials, and other business leaders at the Buy Indiana Expo.
