Troika Solutions continues to help support the Department of Defenses' goals of reducing their reliance on fossil fuels by providing project development and project management services in the area of Alternative Fuels for Department of Defense and other government customers.
Mr. Anthony Ardovino, Troika's Director of Logistics Services has spearheaded several efforts across the DoD including an Alternative Fuels project at Camp Pendleton, California as well as future DOD Alternative Fuels projects scheduled for 2015-2016. The Camp Pendleton project featured the conversion of 12 U.S. Marine Corps non-tactical vehicles in the Marine Corps' Southwest Regional Fleet Transportation (SWRFT) from gas fuel to propane utilizing existing technology from Biphase Technology LLC. A 12-month proof of concept project initiated in December 2013, with the study yielding a 44% savings in fuel cost along with a 7% cumulative reduction in CO2 footprint for the test vehicles. The results of this project were such that the SWRFT leadership requested an additional project to test and install this successful Alternative Fuels technology. As a result of this success and in recognition of Troika's continually growing subject matter expertise, Mr. Ardovino participated as a member of the Environmental, Health & Safety, Ergonomics Panel during the 16th Annual CTMA Partners Meeting 26-28 May 2015 in Ann Arbor, Michigan.
Building off of the Camp Pendleton success, beginning in June 2015, select test vehicles from the SWRFT fleet aboard the Marine Corps' Mountain Warfare Training Center in Bridgeport, California will be converted to test a commercial "diesel-with-propane-injection" technology from CHS Inc. Once again, Troika Solutions will lead the project development and management effort for the National Center for Manufacturing Sciences (NCMS) for this project including data collection and analysis, lessons learned, and the project final report. As with the Camp Pendleton project, the Bridgeport effort is expected to run for 12 months.
